ACSYS ADDS TO GROWING LINE OF SMALL-FOOTPRINT LAN WORKGROUP PRODUCTS

Introduction of Transceiver and Extender Provide Users With High-Quality,
Full-Functional Products in Micro-Sized Packages

BURLINGTON, Mass., July 27, 1994 -- ACSYS Incorporated, a global provider
of LAN workgroup products and services, today expanded its line of
small-footprint internetworking products with the addition of a Token Ring
Extender and an Ethernet Transceiver.

"Each product is significant in and of itself because each device offers
users an easy and inexpensive way to expand and grow networks," said Allen
Dawson, business product leader with ACSYS. "However, what's most
important is that these new products illustrate ACSYS' commitment to
providing high-quality, full-functional products in micro-sized
packages."

Noted for supplying LAN workgroup products and services targeted at remote
branch offices and small businesses, ACSYS today illustrated its
dedication to this market with the introduction of its latest product
offerings. The extender and transceiver join a growing list of ACSYS
products whose small size and unique design provide users with devices
that are simple to install and maintain. ACSYS' micro-sized products
enable users to quickly and easily optimize the value of their strategic
information assets without worrying about installation hassles and
on-going network management issues.

Token Ring Extender

The credit-card sized Token Ring Extender (TRX) is an easy and inexpensive
way for companies to take advantage of fiber optics to extend twisted-pair
cabling limitations in IEEE 802.5 Token-Ring LANs. Priced at $495, the TRX
attaches directly to a station or bridge/router port and is designed to
accept power directly from many Token Ring adapters. The device allows
PCs, workstations, bridges and routers to be located up to 2.5 kilometers
from a Token Ring MSAU or concentrator.

By utilizing ACSYS' TRX for network expansion, companies can tap into the
benefits of fiber, including long transmission distances, increased
security, and protection from environmentally-induced failures such as
lightning and electrical "noise." The device's flexibility makes it ideal
for a variety of applications. It can be used to interconnect hubs or
MSAUs to a centralized router acting as a network's collapsed backbone. It
can also be used to interconnect remote bridges or routers to a central
hub, or to simply and cost-effectively bring fiber directly to a
workstation.

ACSYS' TRX automatically adjusts for 4 or 16Mbps operation. An easily
accessible switch combined with three multi-function LEDs provides easy
configuration and diagnostics.

Ethernet Transceiver

The introduction of ACSYS' 10BASE-2 Transceiver rounds out the company's
family of full-function compact transceivers, which includes 10BASE-T and
10BASE-FL models.

The 10BASE-2 Transceiver, which supports up to 185 meters of 50 ohm
thin-coaxial cable, is among the smallest transceivers currently available
on the market. Its small size and innovative design enables the
transceiver to connect directly to a concentrator, workstation or bridge
AUI port, eliminating the need to purchase a separate AUI cable, saving
companies up to $45 per station. Because the transceiver is unit-powered
from the attached AUI-based device, there is no need for an external power
supply.

ACSYS' Transceiver features more LEDs than competing devices. Six
color-coded LEDs indicate six conditions for quick and easy at-a-glance
network troubleshooting and diagnostics. Additionally, the Transceiver
provides support for an optional 50-meter AUI cable and complete SQE
implementation -- which can be enabled or disabled with an externally
accessible slide switch.

ACSYS is offering the Transceiver as a standalone product or as part of its
small Ethernet workgroup solution, combining it with the company's
small-footprint MicroStack Ethernet hub and recently-introduced
MicroConnect local bridge. The small workgroup solution is the industry's
first micro-sized plug-and-play solution for LAN integration.

Pricing and Availability

The Token Ring Extender is priced at $495. The Ethernet Transceiver is
unit-priced at $58. The Ethernet Transceiver can also be purchased as part
of ACSYS' workgroup computing solution. Comprised of the MicroConnect
local bridge, a stack of four Microstack mini-hubs and the 10BASE-2
Transceiver, the complete 32-station workgroup solution has a list price
of $2,137. All products are available immediately from ACSYS' worldwide
network of wholesalers and resellers. For additional product information
