EAGLE TECHNOLOGY NOW SHIPPING NW2000 WAN ADAPTER

Provides Low Cost, Flexible Solution for Branch Office Connectivity

(TUCSON, AZ - July 5, 1994) - Eagle Technology announced today that it is
shipping its Novell-compatible NW2000 Wide Area Network (WAN) adapter.
This general purpose two-port adapter provides connectivity between remote
NetWare networks running the NetWare MultiProtocol Router (MPR) v2.11
software. The adapter provides a variety of WAN connections, including
synchronous operation and telephone line usage. The NW2000 adapter is
priced at $599 and will ship with software and documentation for use with
Novell's MPR software.

"The low cost of the NW2000 makes it an ideal high-performance WAN solution
for smaller branch offices that need connectivity to corporate
environments for transaction processing, file transfer and electronic
mail," commented Eagle Technology General Manager Vittal Srimushnam. "It
is less expensive than alternative WAN adapters and offers more hardware
flexibility and functionality."

The NW2000 adapter is a half-length ISA communications adapter card for
sending and receiving serial data. With support for Frame Relay services,
the NW2000 adapter addresses the fastest growing segment of the WAN
market. The NW2000 adapter, which is based on Novell's WANIS
specification, contains two ports that can be configured for V.35 and
RS-232 network interfaces. Each port is independent, allowing users to
choose from a wide variety of data communications equipment for their WAN
connection. Eagle Technology also intends to support Point-to-Point
Protocol (PPP) and X.25 WAN protocols.

With 256 Kbytes of memory, the NW2000 adapter provides ample storage for
transmitted and received data, allowing for maximum server efficiency. A
highly integrated serial controller chip handles many of the communication
functions, such as data framing and checksum computation, previously
performed by external microprocessors.
