The Internet For Everybody: Accessing the Electronic Superhighway

FRAMINGHAM, MA, July 8, 1994 --- The Internet is booming! Over 20,000,000
people all over the world use it to communicate, inform, research, and
market. Nearly 1,500,000 new users are jumping on each month! Patricia
Seybold recently stated that "If you're not an active Internet citizen by
the mid 1990's, you are likely to be out of business by the year 2000."

Emerging Technology Applications (ETA) and Point Productions announced
today that they will develop and produce a CD, The Internet For Everybody.
This is a lively and entertaining interactive CD on how to successfully
use the Internet. It is targeted for people that have a need for on-line
information and communicating capabilities in their work, home, personal
enrichment, and recreation activities. The Internet For Everybody covers
Internet services, tools, and access options. Available this fall, The
Internet For Everybody will be compatible with Windows and Macintosh. ETA
is currently seeking sponsors and distribution partners for the CD-ROM.

Product Overview

This title contains over two hours of video instruction as well as help
screens, useful tables, an index, key products and services, and
interactive menus for exploring all material from several perspectives.
There are two major methods of examining information: Tours and Index. In
the Tours segment one can approach the Internet from the viewpoint of four
different people: businessman, teacher, retiree, or high school student.
In addition, one can choose subject areas such as e-mail, newsgroups,
gopher, hints and tips, and many others. Or, the user can move to the area
of greatest interest using the Index - a complete list of topics, services
and sponsors. The innovative menus and index allow the user to
conveniently find the exact information needed.

Key features include The Mall, where one can browse among the "stores" and
see products and services that are useful to Internet users. This is a
showcase for the products and services of the participating sponsors. In
the Sweepstakes, one can fax back (or mail) the built-in entry form for
prizes awarded four times a year.

Distribution

The Internet For Everybody will have an initial qualified distribution of
at least 300,000. "Qualified" is defined as having a multi-media PC with
CD-ROM drive. Most of the circulation will be achieved through value-added
bundling distribution arrangements with key PC and CD-ROM drive
manufacturers. International Data Corporation estimates that nearly
25,000,000 PCs and CD-ROM drives will be shipped over the next 12 months!
All vendors will face stiff competition to grow market share and profits.
The competition battle will be fought with non-price enhancements
including value-added software applications such as The Internet For
Everybody.

The Internet For Everybody will also be sold through established retail and
distribution channels; directly through an 800 number; through various
channels on the Internet itself; and through other arrangements.

Benefits to Sponsors

Sponsors will have an opportunity to place electronic advertisements on the
CD. These companies offer products and services that are of extreme
interest to the fast growing group of Internet users. These users
represent a fast growing, highly qualified group of proven buyers of
computer hardware, software, and related information products and
services. The Internet success is, in turn, primarily dependent on
informing and educating both current and potential users on what a
powerful resource the Internet is. Sponsors benefits include:

* Qualified circulation of over 300,000 through distribution
  partners;
* Image promotion through packaging, ads, entry screen,
  sidebars, and more;
* Infomercials (10 MB) in the Mall hyperlinked throughout
all aspects of the product; and
* Access to direct responses generated through customer fax
back in the Mall as well as database building and lead
generation from the sweepstakes respondents (minimum: 10,000).

Category-exclusive sponsorships are available. Key sponsor categories
proposed include access providers, communications software, value-added
networks, on-line services, software, and consulting services.
Sponsorships start at $50,000.

Promotion

Advertisements will occur in key publications. Candidates include
Computerworld, PC World, and Multimedia World. Trade show presence at
CD-ROM Expo, ComNet '95, Intermedia, and various Internet-related shows
will occur. All ads, collateral materials, packaging, and signage will
include company names of the sponsors and distributors.
