ETA to Use Infosafe System To Make Data More Accessible

July 18, 1994 Framingham, MA -- Emerging Technology Applications (ETA), a
division of the International Data Group, announced today that it has
signed a marketing and development agreement with Infosafe Systems (IS).
ETA will use the IS technology to provide metered, encrypted transmission
of data from CD-ROM products that it develops. Infosafe's "pay as you go"
system will enable ETA to not only provide security for valuable data but
will also allow its' customers more flexible and affordable access to
data. The agreement also provides ETA with opportunities for database and
related applications development engagements with Infosafe's customers.

The Infosafe System is an electronic information distribution system which
encrypts data on a CD-ROM and then decodes the information purchased
through a small black box which the user attaches to their computer. The
black box includes a modem which sends billing and access information back
to ETA. This system enables users to search data freely and review bills
prior to purchasing the data so that they can be aware of their total
spending.

The system also gives ETA the ability to analyze customer's usage patterns
which will yield valuable market information. Data availability, pricing,
and credit can be controlled remotely. Additionally, each node on a
network can be an individually audited cost center. The IS system can hold
up to one gigabyte of data and is compatible with most computer systems.
The mass storage capability of the black box itself also enables ETA to
update their customers' databases more frequently via modem.

Emerging Technology Applications (ETA) is an electronic publishing and
database marketing unit of the International Data Group, the world's
