Bit Jugglers announces Kids World - the screen saver construction kit

Mountain View, California, July 5, 1994-Bit Jugglers announced Kids World,
a breakthrough creativity software toy for kids of all ages. Kids World is
the first "screen saver construction kit," enabling kids to create,
experiment with, and run their own screen saver modules. Nearly 200
professionally animated characters and stamps combined with a
"kid-friendly" interface let kids bring their artistic visions to life
with entertaining animations, color painting, and fun sounds.

Bit Jugglers' president Chris Calande said the inspiration for Kids World
came while watching kids play with UnderWare, Bit Jugglers' screen saving
entertainment software. "Kids as young as six years old knew how to
configure UnderWare and make Jungleman swing across the screen. When you
combine kids' love for drawing pictures and their fascination with
animation and cartoons, a 'make-your-own-screen-saver' program is a
natural."

"Because of Kids World, screen savers will become the electronic equivalent
of the refrigerator door to show off your kid's masterpieces," said Bit
Jugglers board member and Macintosh pundit Guy Kawasaki. He continued,
"Now I may have to buy my son his own Macintosh."

To create a screen saver in Kids World, users select a character from a
palette of close to 200 animals, people, plants, buildings, and other
objects. Unlike typical "stamp art" programs that use static images, Kids
World has characters with built in intelligence that come to life with
stunning animation and surprising interactions. Kids can amaze their
audience by building scenes such as space ships that fire laser beams at
asteroids in their path, a songbird that walks a fence before taking off
in flight, dogs and cats that chase each other, ghosts that disappear into
thin air, or pigs that sprout wings and fly across the sky.

Kids can choose from background worlds such as a haunted mansion, mountain
meadow, space outpost, farm, or prehistoric landscape. Any standard PICT
format file can also be used as a background. In addition, kids can create
their own background world by using Kids World's fun and easy to use paint
tools. Kids World also includes a palette of colorful patterns which can
be used to add texture to grass, water, sky, and any other element of the
background.

The most exciting part of Kids World comes when the characters and artwork
are in place and ready to go. The artist simply clicks the Go button and
magically turns a colorful creation into a leaping, flying, swimming,
chasing, dancing, and galloping interactive, animated scene. To add to the
fun, the characters roar, chirp, whir, moo or make other sounds as they
perform.

When an artist's creation is jumping, squawking, and interacting to
satisfaction, the animated scene is saved as a screen saver module in
UnderWare-compatible format. UnderWare is Bit Jugglers' screen saving
entertainment utility known for wild and wacky animation such as a
vine-swinging Jungleman that crashes into windows and a fire-breathing
dragon that melts the trash can. A Kids World artist's original screen
saver can run like a conventional screen saver, or take advantage of
UnderWare's unique Desktop Animation feature. Kids World includes the
UnderWare Control Panel to run the animated creations as Screensavers and
Desktop Animations.

Kids World will ship for the Macintosh family of personal computers in
August, 1994 with the Windows version following shortly thereafter. The
Macintosh version requires System 7 and a Macintosh LC or above. The
manufacturer's list price of Kids World is $59.95. Bit Jugglers, Inc. is
headquartered at 785 Castro Street, Mountain View, CA 94041. The phone
number is 415-968-3908 and the fax number is 415-968-5358.
