PROXIM RECEIVES FCC CERTIFICATION FOR RangeLAN2/PCMCIA WIRELESS LAN
ADAPTERS

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 13, 1994 -- Proxim, Inc., the leader in
wireless local area networking, announced that its RangeLAN2/PCMCIA
wireless LAN adapter has received Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
approval for commercial use, effective July 7, 1994. Proxim expects to
begin shipping limited commercial quantities of the product later this
month.

This most recent FCC grant completes the certification process for Proxim's
family of RangeLAN2 wireless LAN products. The RangeLAN2 family, which
offers the highest throughput, longest range and greatest mobility of any
2.4 GHz frequency hopping system, includes RangeLAN2/PCMCIA for notebook
and handheld computers, RangeLAN2/ISA for desktop PCs and servers, and
RangeLAN2/Access Point, a transparent bridge product for
protocol-independent wireless access to Ethernet LANs.

Proxim's RangeLAN2/ISA was the first 2.4 GHz spread spectrum product of any
type to be approved by the FCC in March 1994. Proxim's RangeLAN2 family of
wireless were also the first to incorporate the high speed frequency
hopping modulation technique approved by the IEEE 802.11 committee as part
of its proposed draft standard in March 1994.

Founded in 1984, Proxim is headquartered in Mountain View, Calif. To date
the company has shipped more than 70,000 spread spectrum radio products.
