NEC TECHNOLOGIES OFFERS NEW WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS OPTIONS FOR VERSA
SYSTEMS

Boxborough, Mass., July 15, 1994 -- Always on the leading edge of mobile
technology, NEC Technologies, Inc. (NECT) is responding to the need of
on-the-go mobile professionals by offering a new wireless communications
option, VersaPage and upgrading its VersaConnect cellular upgrade kit for
owners of its award-winning Versa notebook computer.

Whether on an airplane, at a hotel or on their way to a meeting, executives
can be instantly notified of any last minute scheduling changes or
emergencies with VersaPage. This ability to be in constant communication
also makes VersaPage the perfect paging choice for other critical decision
makers such as doctor, lawyers, even parents, when they're away from home
or office.

"NECT developed these products because it is committed to the integration
of portable computing and communications," said Colleen Fitzpatrick,
NECT's product manager, wireless communications. "VersaPage is remarkable
because it allows the mobile professional to be in constant
communication."

By placing the VersaPage PCMCIA Receiver Card in their laptops, users can
have electronic mail or database updates forwarded directly to their
Versas through a paging network.

With an estimated selling price (ESP) of just $299, the complete VersaPage
upgrade kit comes with a PCMCIA Receiver Card, VersaPage Send and Receive
Software, and Desk Top Page Software card activation. Service is provided
by U.S. Paging and others. With this package, Versa users will have the
capability to do the following:

* Send and receive pages
* Wireless messaging
* Wireless e-mail
* News service subscription
* Broadcast messages
* Broadcast data or program updates

NECT has also taken into consideration the importance of monitoring e-mail
messages from on the road. That is why it created VersaConnect, an
integrated computing and communications system that expands notebook
functionality to include wireless communications via cellular. Now, when
you are away from your computer, but need to receive that critical
message, you can use your cellular phone to call in for it.

"VersaConnect is the ultimate option for the mobile professional because it
allows them to always remain in touch," Fitzpatrick said.

Included in the NECT VersaConnect upgrade kit for an ESP of $569, users
will receive a new 14.4bps V2.2f modem, a connector for NEC P110/120 phone
(also supports AT&T 3670 phone), custom utility carrying case and the NECT
communications assistant software.
